Emmett Update

Emmett said his first sentence last night. He was reading a book with Grandpa and he said, "There's the cat". Clear as day. Calvin and I both looked at each other and Grandpa said, "that was a sentence". We were both surprised!! Emmett's favorite toys/things lately are: trains, books, video-camera(which he's allowed to watch but not touch), throwing rocks, running through sprinklers, Grandma's two wooden chickens, animals, etc...

He also freely gives kisses to Mom & Dad and basically anybody who wants one. When he wakes up in the morning I bring him into bed with me and he climbs his way up to my head and kisses it and says, "ahhhhh cute". He's so funny. He also says,"Oh Gosh" and "Love You".

Emily is due tomorrow and I can't wait to meet her baby and see her as a mom. She'll be great! For some reason, I'm overly excited for Emily's baby to come. Maybe it's because we've waited so long for her to have a baby.

Emmett has been really sick the past few days. We've been lucky because he hasn't been too sick his first year. He woke up at 5:00am with his eyes glued shut from all the drainage, and so I put a warm wash cloth on his eyes and gave him a bottle. After he drank his bottle he threw it up all over me. My motherly instincts kicked in and I just held him close as he threw up over and over. My children will probably be the only people who can throw up on me without myself getting sick. It's been an awful day and I'm starting to not feel so well myself. Anyways my favorite part of the day was when Bret and I were cleaning up Emmett and changing sheets, Emmett kept saying, "thank you" over and over. He is so polite. He says "please" when he wants something and anytime you give him something he says "thank you". Sometimes he even says "thank you" when he gives you something. I just thought it was so neat that he was thanking me when I hadn't given him a tangible object. What a great baby. He makes me so happy!

I also took him to his 15 month check up and he weighs 22lbs (16%) and 32 inches tall (78%) Tall and skinny. Also Dr. Taylor said most 15 month old babies say about 4 words and including his sign language he says 32!!! Makes a mom proud :)

Baby Halle

Jill had her baby Sunday April 18th. We didn't know if it was a boy or girl until we arrived to see her. I thought it was a girl all along, and then the last two weeks I changed to boy! Always follow your gut instincts. She is absolutely beautiful. I forget how little babies are, probably because I still think Emmett is a baby and he's not. They named her Halle Erickson. She has lots of dark hair and looks a lot like Carly's baby pictures.

I just love her. I've visited her every day since she was born...maybe I've out worn my welcome or maybe I'm baby hungry. Hmm... Emmett is a handful lately. I need more time! He sure loved Halle though. He kept saying "baby" and he'd make the sign for baby. He'd look at her and then start giggling, it was so CUTE! He must have thought she was funny because he laughed at her for a several minutes. Maybe he remembered her from heaven.

Speaking of Emmett I wanted to document all of his progress. So unless you're family/grandma/favorite aunt(Emily, Natalie, Jill...you three all claim to be the favorite) you can skip this part:

pooh bear (We call his Winnie The Pooh stuffed animal "Pooh Bear" and he says it but sometimes he mixes up the words and says "Bear Pooh". So cute!!
