Hiking, Running, More Sewing Projects

We went hiking with the Maughans last weekend to a waterfall on Mt Nebo. It was a lot of fun and the kids did really well. We need to do stuff like this more often. My mom and I use to hike all the time. When I was in the 6th grade she would pick me up from school and we'd change clothes in the car and go hike the Y. Jude has hiked the Y over 500 times and I think I ended up hiking it about 200. I know this because everytime we hike the Y we take a little rock from the mountain and put it in a jar. She and I have hiked to the top of Timp about 14 times, spent 10 days hiking on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia (Joey came with us! It was one of my favorite trips ever), Hiked all over Utah and some in Nevada. Here are some pictures from this last weekend:

Last night I ran the Moonlight Half Marathon with Larry. My friend Bekah Platt ran it too, and we ran by each other for some of the race. The first person to cross the finish line at or after midnight wins the race. So you start at whatever time you need to finish at midnight, but you can't have a watch or timing devise. We were going to start at 10:00pm but we got impatient at the start and just decided to go at 9:33pm. We ran it in 2:02:00, I thought we were going to finish about 10 minutes faster but oh well. I was tired and ready for bed before we even started running. The furthest I've run lately is 8 miles, so my legs were cramping and I was feeling my lack of training. We ran the whole time though and had a lots of fun. Rick Bluth puts on a great race and party afterwards.
Lastly, I love to sew and cross-stitch. Cross stitching is so old fashion but I LOVE it. It's really relaxing for me. I make all of my neices and nephews a cross-stich of their name. I finished James and Emmett and finally got them framed. I want all the kids to have something special from me. Two more to go, then I'm caught up until more babies come. I'm working on Halle and Max right now.

Demolition Derby, Diaper Bag/Jewelry

Don't be jealous but I now own the cutest diaper bag/purse you'll ever see. Please see below:
Emily's sister-in-law made it and she makes and sells her own jewelry. I'm sure you know of it Krumpets Design. Here is the blog site: www.krumpetsdesigns.blogspot.com I just love her stuff. Em, Jill, and I bought a few necklaces and we're going to share them. That's what sisters are for..right?

Here I am sporting some of my new accessories:
I know I need to let Emmett feed himself so I started that today. Big mistake. Huge.

Last weekend we went to the Beaver County Fair and it was my first time going to a demolition derby. I LOVED it. There something about watching cars crash...ahhh....
Family Photo

My mom also rode her horse in the barrel race in the rodeo. She was so happy and cute out there. She made all these cowboy friends and they were all cheering for her. Her time was 35:01...so what if it was double the time it took the rest of the ladies. My mom is a champion! I have video of it and I will post it soon. Check back.

Sewing Project & of course...Emmett

This purse was about 2 years in the making. Not that it took me 2 years to complete, but it was a project I started and never finished. I struggled with the quilting part but finally finished it. It was actually really easy to make. I'll show a close up of the quilting so you can see that it is obviously my first quilting project. Yikes..I'm sure I'll get better with time.

Should I add a few cute buttons?

Emmett looks so grown up in these next few pictures. He looks like a little man...maybe because he is a little man.

He spotted a plane.
