T Shirt Quilt & Running

Karma asked me to help her make a quilt with all of Clint's 4H T-shirts. It was fun to make and good experience for me. I've never made one before, and learned a lot. I cut out each shirt and then had to iron on fusible web to the back of each piece because the jersey material stretches so easily. After I had it pieced together the Corn Wagon quilted it for us, and I did the binding. It's a small lap quilt.

I've been training for the St. George Marathon this summer. I'm up to about 17 miles now, and the next few weeks will be some intense running. I still have an 18 & 20 miler ahead of me. I've done fairly well this year...running has become more enjoyable as the years go on and I find I struggle less mentally. I finally learned that if I'm struggling to just keep pushing through and I seem to come out of my rough spell (which may only last a few miles). I think I used to get down and think too negative when I was hurting and that makes for a miserable run. I've also been running sprints this year to see if I can improve my speed, but we'll see what race day brings. I think I'm capable of a 3:50:00 this year, not my best time but let's say my 2nd best time. This will be my 9th marathon.

Camping & Cattle Drive

We went camping at Fish Lake this year. It was fun but I'm looking forward to camping days when my kids are older. Emmett had a good time and was a great kid. Adah was a dirt ball at the end of the day. She was into everything and constantly falling due to uneven ground. I feel like I spent two days chasing her in the woods, but none the less we had a good time. Emmett is a natural at riding horses. He wants to ride by himself and is very comfortable around animals. He loved playing with his cousins, which makes it worth the whole trip. I was able to go on a 9 mile run while there and they had showers which made camping nice for me.

Emmett was pretending to be an antalope with his stick antlers and he wanted to give Adah an antalope ride. She loved it and would wrap her legs around him and giggle the whole time. I love seeing my kids play and laugh together.

Our Little Cowgirl!

I'm not sure if I've ever posted a picture of the Albrecht's lodge out at their ranch. It's beautiful inside and has a fantastic view!

July Random Photos

Helping Dad mow the lawn. Update on snakes...we have caught 13 snakes as of Aug 26 2012. They're just garter snakes, but they have scared me out of mowing the lawn and working in the garden. It's been hard on me.
Going to church! Thanks to family/friends and my own shopping issues....I have so many dresses for Adah that I have a hard time deciding which one to put her in for church.

Sweet Adah

My successful garden. This is my first garden and it's done really well. I'm really proud of it. I planted peas(which are already harvested), onions, tomatos, cherry tomatos, green/yellow/red/orange bell peppers, cantalope, cucumbers, and crookneck squash. Next year I won't plant as much becuase my garden is huge now and I'm having a hard time eating/sharing all the food. It's been a really fun experience.(minus the snakes)

4th of July 2012

We had a fun 4th of July this year. I bought the kids new outfits from the Gap (my favorite store) and they looked very cute. We took the kids to the Provo Freedom Festival and I want to do that every year. They had free crafts for the kids, a snake from Scales and Tails (which Emmett loved), and much more. I know I've basically lived here my whole life and this was my first time going, but it was awesome. That afternoon we had a swimming party at my moms house and then fireworks on the curbside for the kids.

Check out the next three pictures of a good game of Peek-A-Boo!

Adah was a little scared of the first works and kept getting down from my lap to go sit with Nana. I thought that was adorable! Nana is good with babies.

Baby Emmett

I've been looking through old pictures tonight and came across these pictures of when Emmett was a new baby. I love this picture of Bret looking at his baby. He loves his babies and can't get enough of them. I am so lucky to have a husband that loves his babies as much as I love them.  It makes me want to hold a new baby, that awesome new baby smell, clean jammies, sleeping in your arms, watching a show....ahhh those were the days. I love that we have diapers and a changing station on the couch. I really loved those times of my life...just as much as I love them now. I sometimes think about how nice it will be when my kids get older and more independant, but I also love that I have more years of babies. Nothing is like that first baby....it's was so peaceful. Emmett has always been such a cuddly baby. He still lets me hug and hold him whenever I want. I love him!
I took the bottom picture just the other night and loved it because that is the exact face I remember him having as a baby. Maybe it's those lips...or the cheeks...I don't know but he's perfect!
